about 200 or more?
by RDL
is there any way to make the G60 injectors flow more fuel? diffrent injectores w/ a higher flow fuel pump? how about useing the sds micro fueler type system to come on at a given boost level?

You need at least two more extra injectors to use the SDS EIC. You run the stock EFI and the SDS runs two extra injectors and only comes on while under boost.

G60 to turbo?
by ICE
Hi !
I', almost done with my G60 to turbo conversion, I'm going to run 14.5 psi, I have a stage II SLS chip. Will it run with the G60 chip, or do i have to remapp it?
Any guesses on power output?
I have raised the comp. to 8.5:1 , I have 2.75" exhaust pipes from the turbo, and a Golf G60 intercooler

g60 turbo conv. questions
by Evan
Just wondering if anyone has done this conversion before? Is it worth it? Ive got stage 3 and it makes 12psi but if I go turbo how much more boost will my engine be able to handle? Will my stock injection and ignition be able to handle up to 20psi of boost or if I should switch to a SDS system. Also what size of turbo should I use a t3 or will a t3/t4 be too big. Ive been looking at the turbo8v site and was thinking of purchasing their parts, but if any one knows where I can find cheaper parts please let me know. Also what are your thoughts, internal or external wastegates? Any info is helpful.
Thanks, Evan

Turbo 8v's
by Dolemite
Your on the right track with that 8v turbo.com,You aren't gonna beat their prices.....Your stock fuel inj. should be good for 18-19 psi. anything more is gonna be maxing out the injectors too much.As far as turbo's go either a 60 or super 60 T3 will do just fine.

SDS the way to go
by Kurt West
You should switch to the SDS no matter what you do it is way cooler then stock. It's nice and simple to install. You can tune to suit your car perectly, no chip can do that. And it's fairly cheap, so you can still have cash for other things.(Big set of slicks)

Separation Anxiety
by Ragtop78
How do I separate/rotate the exhaust housing of a Garret T3. I have to line up the oil drain to be on the bottom instead of the side, I pulled all the bolts either out or as far back as they would go and there is no movememt of the housing around the center at all.

mark the compressor wheel to the shaft so you can line it back up!!! they are balanced. remove the shaft.
if you've never had one apart, be careful not to brake the carbon seal when removing it or you'll have to buy a new one. installation it is also delicate.

put lots of penatrating oil on the exhaust side of the cartridge and hit only with a mallet or soft face deadblow hammer as if you were rotating it. be patient, it will come apart.

rotate the housing
by Chuck B (UFO)
Don't take off the compressor wheel or you'll have to have the turbo balanced.

i've taken them off for years. if you mark the shaft to the wheel and line it back up, you won't have to balance it. if you don't mark the wheel, then you HAVE to have it balanced. torque the wheel nut to 14 ft/lbs with lock tight when you re-install it. it will be fine.

Xr4Ti Turbo
by Ragop78
Well, I just got my T-3 that I bought off e-bay, it's in good shape, no slop in the shaft, no scoring so it will work well for now. Unfortunetely the exhaust housing is cracked right at the wastegate. The seller will send me the new part but I have to separate the "halves". Not all the bolts will come out due to clearance issues and I am at a loss as to how to get the damn thing apart? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Also, I didn't realize this till the turbo arrives but it has flange conections for both the intake and outflow parts....like I have to make either have plates on the end of the boost tubes to bolt to it or come up with another option.

Is there a way to get around this....maybe take the houseing off a car in a junkyard and bolt it up?

Confusion is mounting

the bolts when loosened will have clearance if you rotate the cartridge. the flange part is easy. i went to a muffler shop with the compressor in hand, ad they will have flanges. then go to your local parts house and get exhaust adapters. 1 3/4 to what ever size tubing you are going to use on the compressed side and 2" to whtever fresh air side you want to use.

the t-03 ALL crack at the wastegate hole. there are probably a few spidering out. if they aren't very long (3/8" or less) it will be fine.

take a look at my page. it has some pics you might be able to use.

good luck

Garrett turbo
by Kurt West
You may have to cut the bolts off because sometimes they get alittle too hot and are stuck to the turbine housing. Instead of making a custom header you can find a TurboDiesel turbo the turbine from the T3 fits into the TD turbine housing. With the TD turbine housing and a TD exhast manifold you have a easy bolt on setup.
You can port the turbine housing and the manifold too a point, I ported mine alot and it hasn't cracked.

If you take it apart without a torch youll brak off the bolts.
